For stratified medicine up to £7.5m will be invested in the development of novel and innovative diagnostic tests and assessments. Forthcoming FP7 themes will be considered.

Stratified medicine is a priority area for the Medical Research Council (MRC), which will commit £60m to this area over the next four years. MRC has now invited researchers to submit outline proposals for funding for the development of disease-focussed consortia to stratify disease. Up to £60m is available over 4 years.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) has announced that its ‘Experimental Medicine Challenge Grants’, focusing on ‘Studies of Disease Mechanisms in Humans’ will be launched in early 2012. Projects should address substantial, important medical questions. The anticipated funding range is £2-4m per 5 year award.
