Copyright

Copyright is used to protect written information (e.g. brochures, leaflets, articles, assessment tools and training packs), databases, computer software and audiovisual material. It is an automatic right that does not need to be registered.

To protect copyright, documents should be marked with a © symbol and a statement, for example:

© XYZ 2008 all rights reserved. Not to be reproduced in whole or in part without the permission of the copyright owner.

If you wish to share copyright material with another organisation, please contact the HSC Innovations team who can prepare a copyright licence on your behalf. We can also provide advice on the use of copyright material, whether that material was developed within your Trust or by an external organisation. Please click here to contact us.

The UK Intellectual Property Office website offers guidance on copyright, including a useful essential reading booklet.
