Bespoke competition trophies will be awarded in the following categories:
Diagnostics Idea of the Year
Ideas, concepts, technologies and products in the area of diagnostics. The diagnostics could be for use in the laboratory, on a ward, in a primary care clinic or in a patient’s home, perhaps for online reporting of results. The diagnostics could be of any kind, from ‘wet’ sample collection and analysis to high technology instrumentation such as scanners.
Equipment Idea of the Year
Ideas, concepts, technologies and products in the area of apparatus for use in health and social care. This category includes medical devices such as surgical instruments as well as equipment for use on the ward, in patient handling or rehabilitation.
Pharmaceutical Idea of the Year
Ideas, concepts, technologies and products in the area of pharmacy. Entries might be new drugs, methods of operating a pharmacy at hospital or ward level, or measures to improve patient safety in pharmacy.
Information and Communications Technology of the Year
Ideas, concepts, technologies and products that use information and communications technology to deliver an advantage to health or social care. Entries might include patient monitoring tools, improvements to sharing of patient data, stock tracking and ordering systems, or telemedicine.
In each category both completely new concepts and improvements to existing approaches are sought. The best overall entry from each of the five Health and Social Care Trusts will also receive a bespoke competition trophy.
